First Attempt At Horror - 'The Exchange'
'The Exchange' was our first attempt and practice at filming an original Horror piece.
Our first shot consisted of a Low Angle & Mid Shot, showing the viewer the murderers weapon, and direction in which he is advancing. In our second shot we used a Close Up of the victims (Shana's) face, which highlighted the character suggesting to the audience who the victim is. Furthermore, she ironically held a flower, portraying happiness and innocence. We filmed the third shot using an Over the Shoulder shot, giving a view from the perspective of the killer, whilst also setting the scene for which the exchange and killing will take place. In the fourth shot we used another Over the Shoulder shot, so that the audience could grasp the perspective of the victim. And finally in the fifth shot, we have included the exchange between our two actors (Jacob & Sam), of which a Low Angle & Long Shot is used.
At the point where they begin to talk, the two are oblivious to the fact that the victim (Shana) is under threat by the killer, later hearing her scream along with the murderer's weapon crashing into the wood, reacting surprised and scarce towards the events. Ironically again there is a sense of happiness and innocence when the wasp flies over the attractive bunch of flowers hanging in the frame.
