What have you learnt about technologies from the construction of your product?
From our experiences we have learnt a lot about the technology and equipment we have used. We have learnt how they are used, various techniques that can be used and multiple editing styles and effects that can be applied to the finished product. I have managed to compile some images and videos of the equipment used, demonstrating how to use them and explaining what we have learnt from using them.

Throughout the building of our website and the products that came with it, we managed to rack a total of around 40 hours of building our website; including writing all of our research, planning and evaluations. Within the filming, editing and publishing side of our project we managed to accumulate around 80 hours just on our OTS let alone the other miscellaneous events we did.

Technologies/ Equipment Used
Throughout our experience in media we have used a lot of technology and equipment, however these listed are the most used.
We used a Canon Legria HF R56 as our main filming camera, it was the newest of the cameras and we wanted to make sure that we were up to date with the technology. The camera was excellent for the purpose we needed, we wanted to film in the dark and the camera had a powerful enough lens to do so. When filming we used a basic tripod, we didn't want anything heavyweight as we were going to be moving around a lot. We needed a lightweight and fairly basic tripod that excecuted its purpose, support the camera. We used an LED Torch to create the lighting for our OTS, we wanted to make it seem like the victim was set up, not just caught by co-incidence. The killer had this planned. To upload, edit, and publish our projects we used an iMac, they are very fun to use, very smart and smooth when running. But we had a lot of minor problems when using the Mac, there was a lot of background tasks occuring with other peoples work and it could sometimes get in the way, the Mac would also go into states of freeze for no reason causing us to become stressed when trying to meet deadlines. WeeblyWeebly is the application we used to build our website, we have included all of our planning, research, projects and evaluations on here. Weebly is a very easy website to use, the application requires you to drag and drop from the hotbar on the side to add specific events to your project.

Final Cut Pro XFinal Cut Pro is the non-linear video editing software that we used to upload edit and publish our projects tht we filmed. Again as simple as weebly the drag and drop method is used, but not as compact. When plugging in a camera an option apears for you to import the media from the storage device, from here you can mess about compiling footage, editing it together and adding stylish effects to suit your liking.
This is a demonstration video on how to use Final Cut. MM 27/03/15 |
The Green Screen
The Green Screen is a very exciting piece of equipment, it allows you to overlay almost any image or video over the background of the subject. For instance the News use it when they talk, they will have a green screen behind them when they present all of the weather and any other scenes. We used it to apply a horror themed background to our audience questionnaire.
This is a video demonstrating how to basically use the green screen. MM 27/03/15 |
